Offered by Government of Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
As global markets place greater emphasis on food safety, traceability, animal welfare, and sustainability, national agriculture organizations play a critical role in helping Canadian products meet rising expectations. The AgriAssurance Program — National Industry Association component supports this work by helping industry-led organizations strengthen the systems and standards that underpin credible health, safety, and quality claims across the agri-food sector.
Delivered by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, this program is designed for not-for-profit national industry associations operating across Canada. Funding support of up to roughly $1 million per project can help organizations develop, improve, or modernize assurance systems that manage sector-wide risks and build public trust. Projects often focus on areas such as food safety frameworks, plant and animal health, environmental sustainability, traceability, or quality standards that allow Canadian products to meet domestic expectations and compete more effectively in export markets, particularly where trade agreements are in place. The program generally shares project costs, making larger, collaborative initiatives more feasible for associations working on behalf of their members.
While applications for this program are not currently open, additional intake periods may be announced before the program concludes in the coming years. For national agriculture and agri-food associations considering future projects, understanding how this funding aligns with long-term sector priorities is an important first step worth exploring further.
