Canadian agri-food businesses involved in kosher or halal red meat production often face added costs when aligning operations with certification standards, buyer expectations, and evolving consumer concerns. The AgriAssurance Program — Kosher and Halal Investment — For Profit was created to help address those challenges by supporting projects that strengthen quality assurance systems and improve how kosher and halal practices are integrated across the beef and veal sector nationwide. For-profit enterprises across Canada can access non-repayable funding of up to about $50,000 to help cover a portion of eligible project expenses, typically sharing costs with the business. Supported activities may include developing or improving assurance systems, creating guidance materials, or implementing processes that respond to market demands around food safety, animal welfare, traceability, and recognized kosher or halal attributes.
