Export Development Program

By GrantHub Research Team ·

For Manitoba businesses looking to break into new international markets, the cost of attending major trade shows or export-focused events can be a real barrier. The Export Development Program is designed to ease that burden by helping small and medium-sized companies showcase their products and services beyond the province. Delivered through Manitoba’s Economic Development, Investment and Trade department, the program supports businesses that are ready to take concrete steps toward exporting and global growth.

This funding stream focuses specifically on outward-facing activities such as participating in trade shows or trade missions outside Manitoba. Eligible businesses can receive non-repayable support to offset a portion of eligible costs, with funding typically reaching up to around $20,000 per trade event and total annual support of up to approximately $30,000. Companies can apply more than once in a year, making the program well suited for exporters planning a series of targeted market-entry efforts rather than a single appearance.

The Export Development Program forms part of Manitoba’s broader Export Support Program, which was recently updated to reflect current trade conditions. For established Manitoba SMEs producing export-ready goods or services, this initiative can make international exposure more financially realistic. Business owners considering global expansion may want to look more closely at how this program aligns with their export strategy and upcoming trade opportunities.
