Agriculture Stewardship Program

By GrantHub Research Team ·

For Prince Edward Island farm operators looking to strengthen environmental performance while keeping operations productive, the Agriculture Stewardship Program offers meaningful financial support to put proven best practices into action. This program is geared toward agricultural businesses that want to improve soil health, protect water resources, manage pests more sustainably, or invest in climate-smart upgrades that benefit both the land and long-term farm viability.

Delivered by the PEI Department of Agriculture and Land, the Agriculture Stewardship Program helps cover a portion of costs for on-farm projects such as erosion control, reduced or zero tillage systems, nutrient and manure management improvements, water efficiency measures, and integrated pest management approaches. Funding is non-repayable and can reach up to around $100,000 depending on the scope and type of project, making it especially valuable for small and medium-sized farms planning larger environmental investments. Support may also extend to demonstration trials and activities that promote awareness and adoption of sustainable practices across the sector.

Due to strong demand, applications for the current fiscal year are no longer being accepted, with the program scheduled to reopen in spring 2026. For PEI producers who are planning ahead or exploring future stewardship projects, understanding how this program works and how it aligns with your farm’s environmental goals is an important next step worth looking into further.
