Offered by Government of Ontario, Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade
Launching a business or taking an early-stage company to the next level can be challenging without the right mix of capital and guidance. In Ontario, the Starter Company Plus program is designed for entrepreneurs who need practical support as much as funding. Whether you’re starting from scratch, buying an existing operation, or planning a modest expansion, this initiative helps turn ideas into viable business plans with hands-on help.
Delivered through Ontario’s Small Business Enterprise Centres and backed by the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, the program combines training, mentorship, and a non-repayable grant of up to $5,000. Participants work one-on-one with experienced advisors, attend workshops, and connect with mentors who understand the realities of building a small business. Topics often cover essentials like business planning, budgeting, and marketing, making the program especially valuable for first-time founders or entrepreneurs refining their approach. Funding is intended to offset early project costs, with the expectation that participants also invest their own time and resources into the business.
Starter Company Plus is currently accepting applications and is open to Ontario residents who meet certain requirements and are ready to actively develop their business. For entrepreneurs looking for both financial support and structured guidance, learning more about how this program works could be a smart next step.
