Regional Defence Investment Initiative

Defence and security companies in southern Ontario are facing growing demand to scale production, innovate faster, and strengthen their role in critical supply chains. The Regional Defence Investment Initiative is designed to help businesses and sector organizations respond to these pressures by supporting investments that build capacity, improve competitiveness, and accelerate participation in Canada’s defence ecosystem. Delivered in Ontario by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, the initiative reflects the strategic importance of the region to national defence priorities.

Through this program, companies and not-for-profit organizations working in or adjacent to defence and security can access substantial project-based funding to support activities such as expanding manufacturing capabilities, adopting advanced technologies, boosting R&D efforts, or positioning themselves to enter new defence supply chains. Funding levels vary by project and scope, but support can be significant, often reaching into the millions, helping offset the cost of large, complex investments that might otherwise be difficult to pursue.
