Offered by Government of Nova Scotia, Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture
Seafood businesses in Nova Scotia are under growing pressure to meet higher expectations around quality, safety, traceability, and sustainability, especially when selling into new or premium markets. The Perennia Seafood Accelerator Program is designed for processors and producers who want to strengthen their existing products or take the next step toward value-added offerings without carrying the full cost of specialized expertise on their own. Delivered by Perennia with support from the provincial Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, the program focuses on practical, project-based improvements that can have an immediate impact on market readiness.
Funding through this program helps offset the cost of professional services related to food safety systems, quality management, and product development. Eligible projects may include updating or building food safety programs, preparing for third-party audits, improving packaging or labelling, or testing shelf life and nutritional content. Support can also extend to developing new value-added seafood products, making it easier for small and medium-sized businesses to respond to customer demand and regulatory requirements. Contributions are non-repayable and can provide up to around $15,000 toward approved project costs.
For Nova Scotia seafood companies looking to protect existing markets or confidently pursue new ones, this program offers targeted, hands-on support. Reviewing the full program details can help determine whether your next quality or product initiative is a good fit.
