PEI Broadband Fund for Businesses

For many Prince Edward Island businesses, limited or unreliable internet connectivity can be a real barrier to growth, remote work, and access to modern digital tools. The PEI Broadband Fund for Businesses is designed to help close that gap by supporting projects that bring new or significantly improved broadband services directly to business premises. Delivered by Innovation PEI, the program focuses on strengthening connectivity where it can unlock productivity, enable teleworking, and support broader economic diversification across the province.

Rather than covering day‑to‑day internet costs, this fund helps offset the capital investment required to install or upgrade broadband infrastructure. Businesses, community groups, and local internet service providers can receive non‑repayable funding that typically covers up to about half of eligible project expenses, making larger infrastructure improvements more achievable. Collaborative projects are encouraged, especially where partnerships can lead to better service levels, increased access, or more consumer choice in underserved areas. Applications are assessed on the quality of the proposed upgrade, the level of improvement it brings, and the applicant’s ability to complete the project with the remaining financing in place.

The program is generally open and accepts applications before work begins on a project.
