Offered by MAIN - Mouvement des accélérateurs d'innovation du Québec
For Quebec startups building innovative products or technologies, protecting intellectual property early can be just as critical as securing customers or capital. The momentumPI — intellectual property support initiative was created to help young companies develop a stronger grasp of IP and turn it into a strategic asset rather than an afterthought. Delivered in Quebec through MAIN (Mouvement des accélérateurs d’innovation du Québec), the program connects startups with experienced accelerators, incubators, and intellectual property experts who understand the realities of early-stage growth.
MomentumPI focuses on practical, hands-on support rather than cash grants. Startups can access structured training that builds IP awareness, from foundational concepts to more advanced strategies tied directly to business growth and investor readiness. Beyond training, the initiative was designed to support the creation and implementation of customized IP strategies, helping founders identify what to protect, how to protect it, and how to align IP decisions with long-term commercial goals. Support is non-repayable and tailored to each project, reflecting the diversity of Quebec’s startup ecosystem.
While funding for developing and implementing IP strategies has been fully allocated, training activities remain available, and businesses can still register their interest through a waiting list. For founders who see intellectual property as a key driver of valuation and competitiveness, momentumPI remains a relevant opportunity worth exploring in more detail.
