Program Overview

Strong regional innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. It depends on connected organizations, shared infrastructure, and the ability to turn research, talent, and ideas into real economic activity. The CED Regional Innovation Ecosystems (REGI) program for not‑for‑profit organizations is designed to strengthen those connections across Quebec’s innovation landscape, helping organizations that support businesses build more collaborative, competitive regional ecosystems. Delivered by Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, this initiative focuses on projects that bring ecosystem players together, develop regional clusters, and attract investment from outside Canada.

The program is particularly relevant for not‑for‑profits such as business incubators and accelerators, industry associations, municipalities, regional bodies, and Indigenous organizations that work closely with growing companies. Projects often involve technology and knowledge transfer, expanding innovation support services, or creating partnerships that improve networking and cluster development. Sectors commonly supported include manufacturing, food processing, information and communications technologies, and life sciences, though other industries may also fit depending on the project’s impact.

Funding is non‑repayable and can cover a significant share of eligible project costs, making it easier for organizations to move forward with initiatives that would otherwise be difficult to finance. Support levels and amounts vary by project scope, with more limited coverage for capital investments. For organizations looking to play a larger role in regional innovation and business growth, exploring the full details of the REGI program can help clarify whether it aligns with your objectives.
