Offered by Government of Canada, Canada Economic Development for the Quebec regions
Businesses and organizations working to strengthen English-speaking minority communities in Quebec often face added challenges when it comes to growth, market access, and long-term sustainability. The CED Economic Development Initiative – Official Languages is designed to help address those challenges by supporting projects that generate economic activity and encourage entrepreneurship within official-language minority communities. Delivered by Canada Economic Development for the Quebec regions, this initiative supports practical, growth-oriented projects that contribute to stronger local economies.
The program can help cover a meaningful share of project costs, typically supporting up to about half of eligible expenses for small and medium-sized businesses through a repayable, interest-free contribution, with repayment starting after the project is completed. Funding can be used for a wide range of initiatives, including developing new products or services, adopting technology, improving facilities, launching commercialization strategies, or accessing specialized expertise. Nonprofit organizations that support entrepreneurship and economic development in these communities may also receive higher levels of support for eligible activities.
Projects are assessed based on their economic impact, alignment with program objectives, and overall viability, with a focus on initiatives that would be difficult to move forward without this assistance. Applications are currently being accepted on an ongoing basis, making this a timely opportunity for businesses and organizations with well-defined projects. Exploring the full program details can help determine how this initiative could support your next stage of development.
