Offered by Prairies Economic Development Canada
Strong local support networks are often what make the difference for entrepreneurs facing systemic barriers, and that’s where the Black Entrepreneurship Program (BEP) Ecosystem Fund comes in. Delivered in the Prairie provinces by Prairies Economic Development Canada, this fund focuses on strengthening the organizations that support Black entrepreneurs rather than funding individual businesses directly. Its goal is to build a more connected, accessible, and resilient entrepreneurship ecosystem across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
Through non-repayable funding, the BEP Ecosystem Fund helps Black-led, not-for-profit organizations expand services such as mentorship, skills training, networking, outreach, and capacity building. These projects are designed to improve access to resources, knowledge, and support for Black entrepreneurs at various stages, from early startup to growth and scaling. Funding levels vary by project, with support structured to help organizations deliver high-impact programming over multiple years, with projects running as late as 2030.
At the moment, the intake for new Expressions of Interest is closed, and submitted proposals are being reviewed based on available funding. For Black-led organizations or ecosystem partners in the Prairies looking to plan future initiatives or understand how this fund fits into the broader Black Entrepreneurship Program, taking a closer look at the program details can help clarify whether this opportunity aligns with your long-term goals.
