Offered by Innovate BC
For startups in British Columbia, intellectual property can be one of the most valuable — and most overlooked — business assets. AccelerateIP is designed to help early-stage companies understand what IP they have, how to protect it, and how to use it strategically as they grow. Delivered by New Ventures BC with Innovate BC as a prime collaborator, the program supports founders who are building innovative products, technologies, or processes and want to strengthen their competitive position through smarter IP decisions.
Rather than focusing only on funding, AccelerateIP combines hands-on education, expert guidance, and financial support. Participating startups can access foundational IP training, one-on-one mentorship to develop an IP strategy, and support to put that strategy into action. Depending on the stage and needs of the business, the program can help cover significant legal and professional costs related to patents, trademarks, or other forms of intellectual property, with non-repayable support of up to around $60,000 available through advanced implementation streams.
AccelerateIP is especially relevant for founders preparing for investment, commercialization, or market expansion, where clear ownership and protection of IP can influence valuation and long-term growth. With different streams opening at different times, interested startups should review the program details to see how AccelerateIP could fit into their broader growth plans.
